Prosthetics & Orthotics: Biomechanical Engineering for Unassisted Mobility
HCRA operates an in-house Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) Workshop to design, fabricate, and fit custom biomechanical mobility appliances for children and youth with locomotor disabilities. Certified orthotic technicians craft every appliance on-site, ensuring lightweight durability, clinical alignment, and precise anatomical comfort.
Engineering Capabilities & Outreach:
In-House Custom Fabrication: Prescription and precision molding of Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs), Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses (KAFOs), spinal braces, corrective calipers, and functional prosthetic limbs.
Ergonomic Pediatric Fit: Fabricated with skin-safe, high-grade polymers and lightweight alloys designed to adapt to a child's active physical growth.
Community Distribution: Distributed through hospital outpatient clinics, regional care centers, and free rural screening camps for disadvantaged families.
Post-Fitting Alignment & Recalibration: Regular clinical reassessment and device recalibration to maintain proper biomechanical gait as children grow.
